Academic Research and Writing Skills Workshop

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences at United States International University-Africa is pleased to announce a Research and Academic Writing Skills Workshop aimed at strengthening students’ research, analytical, and scholarly writing capabilities.

This workshop is designed to guide students through the key stages of academic research, including developing research questions, conducting literature reviews, organizing arguments, and properly citing academic sources. Participants will also receive practical guidance on avoiding plagiarism, structuring research papers, and presenting evidence-based arguments.

Faculty members will facilitate practical sessions that will help students understand how to transform research ideas into well-structured academic papers. Real examples and guided exercises will be used to demonstrate best practices in academic writing across disciplines within the humanities and social sciences.

The workshop will particularly benefit students preparing for research projects, term papers, or senior capstone projects. It is also recommended for students who wish to improve their academic writing skills and confidence in scholarly communication.

Students are encouraged to register through the student portal by March 7, 2026 to secure a slot. Participants are advised to bring their laptops and any ongoing research topics they may wish to develop during the session.
